In Other Birthday News...

So yesterday I posted about my Dad's milestone birthday but I've celebrated a few other birthdays since then. It seems like everyone I know has a birthday! Ok lame joke :)

This little guy turned 2 and his parents threw him a Cars themed birthday party. He not only loves the movie but toy cars in general. He could play with matchbox cars for hours.

My SIL Erin made this fantastic cake and her mom made the super cute cupcakes. Erin surfed the web to get some ideas on how to do the cake. I think it turned out great!

My friend Karla turned "29" so we went to the Waterfront Grill to celebrate with dinner and drinks. I think Waterfront might be my new fave in town. I love the variety of their menu and the food is delish!

Last week my MIL Melissa also hit a milestone birthday, 65! I don't think she is too excited about the number but she looks great and that's all it is anyway, a number! I'll tell you who can't wait to turn 65, my husband. He's salivating just thinking about all those senior discounts ;)

We drove to Edmond on the night of her birthday and took her out to Boulevard Steakhouse. None of us had ever been and it was quite a treat! I loved the ambiance and thought the food was fabulous! Watch out Mahogany I might have a new favorite steak place!

The Big Six-0

Last month my Dad hit a milestone birthday - the big six-0! We helped him celebrate by having an intimate get together at my parent's house that included our immediate family and some close family friends.

I was in charge of invitations and decorations! I am very lucky that my BFF is so creative! I had her make the invitations using this picture of my Dad.

Unfortunately I don't have an image of said invitations but they were fabulous! Thank you Katie!

On to the decorations, which I kept pretty simple. I picked up some cute 60 themed items at Party City to put on the mantle and Katie helped me make the Happy Birthday banner with her Cricut. I really like how the banner turned out and I'm excited that I can use it for future birthday celebrations. I also had some 6o themed confetti that I spread around some of the tables.

My mom had a cake made with the invitation as inspiration. Isn't it great?! And it gives you an idea of what the invitations looked like. Super cute!

Here's the whole crew :) (AB is such a giant compared to my family) We had lots of fun! It was great to see family friends that I hadn't seen in many years and it was also a treat to have my MIL Melissa (unfortunately not pictured-where were you Melissa?) there to celebrate with us!

Happy Birthday Chris

Today is my BIL's birthday and to celebrate the occasion we had him, his lovely wife Shawnna and our two cute nieces over for dinner on Saturday.

Chris, our sweet niece Elliot and AB. Hey Elliot? Over here!

Cheese!

I never have a problem with Lilly cheesing it up for the camera!

I especially love her model poses :)

My ever present kitchen helper and I whipped out some fabulous treats for the occasion. Don't worry I scrub down the counter tops before cooking and keep her summoned to ground help only!

First up - The Pioneer Woman's Shrimpo De Gallo. Delicious! Megan from my Girl's Night group made this not too long ago and I was addicted after the first bite! Sorry I didn't get any "in-process" pics, just after the fact.

Next up Ham & Cheese Sliders. My friend Alisha came across the recipe for these here. They were a crowd pleaser and super easy!

Alisha also provided the recipe for my next two creations. She recently bought a Taste of Home magazine that featured their top rated recipes. I made many copies out of the magazine and chose to make this Potato Salad unfortunately I didn't get a pic. Again, it was easy and yummy!

For dessert I made these mini peanut butter cheesecakes. Mine don't look quite as pretty as theirs but they were still scrumptious!
I also have to give a shout out to AB for helping me in the kitchen! He did quite a bit of the chopping prep for the shrimpo de gallo :) and as usual, he did quite a bit of the clean up! It was a fun night with the fam and hopefully a happy birthday for Chris!

August Birthdays

My dad, my brother and our nephew all have birthdays in August so AB and I headed up to Kansas last weekend to do some celebrating. The main attraction was Jude’s birthday because let’s face it, birthdays are much more fun when you’re one!

Andrew and Erin had the family over for a nice lunch then we watched the birthday boy open his gifts. This is a fun age because they are much more in to the box the gift came in than the actual gift. I think the Tickle Monster book was his favorite - he just loved the Tickle Monster gloves!

After the gifts we got to eat cupcakes! Aren’t these monkey cupcakes adorable? Erin is so talented!

I think it's safe to say Jude really enjoyed his :)

Our trip was fast and furious but it was nice to spend time with family and celebrate all the birthdays!
