It Started With A Slumber Party

Our weekend that is! We kicked things off Friday evening by having our 4 1/2 year old niece Lilly stay the night with us. You're never to old for a slumber party :)

Our first activity was meeting our friend Greg for dinner. We met up at one of our new favorites, Andolini's. Andolini's serves pizza, pasta, salads and is located on Cherry Street. They have an open kitchen so you can watch them toss the crust which was fun for Lilly. Another fun thing they did was give her a piece of dough to play with while we waited for a table.

We started off with the awesome garlic knots, I also recommend their meatballs as an appetizer. They have many different pizza combinations but we stuck with plain ol' pepperoni and it was delicious!

After dinner Lilly and I went on a little walk while we waited for AB and Greg to finish up. We discovered a fun mail slot. Lilly had lots of fun looking through it, apparently there was a stairway but no people were spotted :)

Once AB was finished we headed home to get into our PJs and prepare for movie night

We watched one of my favorite movies as a kid, Bedknobs and Broomsticks. It was a little long for a 4 year old but I think she liked all the singing and dancing scenes and of course the Island of Naboombu, which is cartoon.

Saturday morning we slept in, lucky for us Lilly likes sleeping in. When she got up she wanted to watch some of the other movie we had, Mary Poppins. She seemed to really like this one but unfortunately we didn't have time watch all of it.

After watching some of the movie I took her to the doughnut shop and then home because she had a birthday party to go to. It was a fun evening and I hope we get to do more slumber parties with her as she gets older!

AB has a great group of friends from high school and lucky for me they all have great wives! Saturday all of the wives planned a girl's night out in Edmond. It was so much fun to see everyone and we did something I'd never done before, or at least since grade school, we painted! We went to Paint Your Art Out which is a place that has local artists guiding you through a step by step process of painting your own picture. The best part is they let you bring in your own snacks and wine. Here we all our in our smocks gearing up to paint.

So here is the picture we were supposed to paint, I probably shouldn't even show it since mine doesn't look near this good!

Here is my finished product, not too bad for a first timer. I'm actually pretty proud of myself because it was hard! I would love to do it again, I wish we would get something similar in Tulsa.

Such a fun girl's night, I wish I could see those girls more often!

Anniversary Extravaganza

So my last post ended with us at The Mayo Penthouse Bar...

...and I mentioned that as a special anniversary treat AB and I stayed at The Mayo Hotel. What a neat place! The Mayo has been around forever and has been totally renovated in recent years. Here is a picture of our room. I liked that it was modern but warm and I fell in love with the sheets! The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, it was amazing! The sheets are Tencel fiber which is made from the wood pulp of Eucalyptus trees as explained here. We know what I'll be using my next 20% off coupon for!

Saturday I had a fun day of togetherness planned but one of us (as in not me) was a little under the weather (as in too many cocktails on the rooftop) so the day was sort of wasted away laying around the house. Before you feel too bad for me, AB saved himself by rallying the next evening and taking me to Mahogany for an anniversary dinner. Mahogany is probably my favorite restaurant in Tulsa, everything there just melts in your mouth! AB is lucky enough to get to go there for business dinners but I am limited to special occasions which is fine because it makes it that much more of a treat when I get to go :) Here we are before our big date:

It was such a wonderful dinner, I can still taste it! So I can't mention our anniversary and leave out the gifts. I've never been good at keeping up with the traditional anniversary gifts; paper, wood, etc. but this year unbeknownst to ourselves, we nailed it! The traditional anniversary gift for the 4th anniversary is silk/linen and the modern gift is electrical appliances. We went the modern route. I got Andy the Krups Beer Tender. It's a cooling system that keeps a 5-liter mini keg chilled so you can poor a perfectly chilled draught from the comfort of your own home. Currently the only mini-kegs that operate with it are Heineken and New Castle, I don't think they're AB's favorites but he likes them. I'm hoping more companies will jump on board with this. In case you were wondering 5-liters is about 14 beers and it's probably not any cheaper but it sure is cool having beer on tap at your house!

I've already posted that AB sent me these gorgeous flowers - loved them! I just can't get over how pretty they were.

He also got me the Cuisinart Keurig Brewing System. It's a single-cup brewing system and I absolutely love it! I was using a Cuisinart Grind & Brew which I also loved (and I'm going to keep) but I'm the only one drinking coffee so it was kind of a pain to make each day for just one person. With this system you just pop in a K-Cup and it brews either a 6, 8 or 10 ounce cup of coffee depending on your preference. There are so many varieties of K-Cups, many flavors of coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cider! It's awesome!

We had such a great weekend together and I look forward to many more anniversaries :)

July Birthday Celebrations Part II

I hope you knew that if I had a Part One, I would have a Part Two. Last Friday we celebrated another July birthday! Addie turned the Big 3-0! Her celebration took place at The Mayo Hotel. Everyone started out with cocktails in her suite, unfortunately AB and I missed out on that part :( Then everyone headed to dinner at Trula, the hotel restaurant.

You may notice all my pictures look a little funky. I was trying out the Instagram App on my iPhone and quite frankly I had no idea what I was doing so we'll just say I was going for an artistic feel when I created this post. Here are a few candid poses from dinner.

After dinner we went back to the suite for more cocktails and of course birthday cake! The cake was one of the best I've ever tasted and I do not even like cake!

The Birthday Girl & Me

The cake was a Ribbon Cake from Rasberries N Creme Bakery in Oklahoma City. It's one layer of milk chocolate cake, one layer of sour cream white cake, fresh Italian cream and strawberries between the layers, then iced with whipped cream. Seriously delicious!!

The party didn't stop after the cake! Who knew there was so much to do in one spot right? After dessert some of us headed up to The Mayo Penthouse Bar. This was my second time to visit the bar. If you live in Tulsa and haven't been - it's a must! They have added outdoor seating since the last time I had been which was nice. The views of downtown are great and even on a hot night like last Friday, there was a nice breeze flowing in between the buildings. Being up there just makes you feel so Metropolitan and hip ;)

We had so much fun and as a special treat for our anniversary AB and I stayed at The Mayo that night. I'll have more on that in my next post...
